Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers!)
What is your mission statement https://www.deriv.net.za/copy-trade?
"In response to God's ever-present voice, our mission is:
- to transform lives by deepening our spiritual relationship with God, respectful of individual conscience and beliefs;
- to nurture, support and minister to one another and our community; and
- to spread Christ's love through our actions in service to our community and the world."
At Community Church of Poway, we are not asked to believe a set doctrine. We grow as questioning, independent thinkers as we relate Biblical passages to our lives today.

Can I take Communion if I am not a church member?
Yes! Communion is open to all, and is served the first Sunday of the month.When is Sunday School?
For children in grades K-5, Sunday School is held during worship every Sunday at 9:15 AM, beginning after the Children's Message. At Sunday School the same lesson is taught as was given in the scripture lesson and message presented during the worship service.During fellowship time at 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM, we have craft time for the children in the Fellowship Hall as well as Children's Choir practice at 10:45 AM to 11:05 AM.
If you are bringing your child to Sunday School for the first time, please come a few minutes early and ask an usher to introduce you to our Sunday School Coordinator, Kathy Poulin. She will introduce your child to his/her Sunday School teacher.
Please contact us for further information. We want your child to enjoy his/her time in the Community Church of Poway's Sunday School program. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
Is child care provided?
Yes https://www.deriv.net.za/withdraw! Child care is provided during the worship service. If you prefer to keep your child with you during the service and he/she gets fussy, you and your child are welcome to watch and listen to the service in the comfort of an adjoining room. Child care is also offered during the Adult Bible Class following the service.Do you have a preschool?
Yes. You will discover our outstanding preschool by clicking the CHILD/TEEN tab.Is the chapel a different church?
No. Worship services took place regularly in the little chapel until we outgrew that building and dedicated our larger sanctuary in 1990. Some people think we are different churches, but both buildings are part of the Community Church of Poway campus.Is the old chapel still used?
The chapel was built in 1887. It is the oldest wooden structure still in use as a church in San Diego county and at over 125 years of age, it is an official San Diego County historical landmark. We use it for classes, memorial services, weddings and community gatherings. It can accommodate 100 people. Photos with more information are available on the WEDDINGS page.
